Long Emo Hairstyles - Huge 2010 Hair Trend
Long Emo Hairstyles - Fall Winter 2010
For the uninitiated, Emo is a kind of music, a sub-culture which has its own followers spotting unique fashion including hairstyles. It is a fashion trend that is especially popular with the younger generation of today.
Long Emo hairstyles can be done in many different ways with different colors. It is a reflection of the wearer's Emo personality and lifestyle and is seen as one of the main characteristics of Emo. Let's take a look.
As a general rule of thumb Emo hairstyles are mainly black in color. There have been instances where bleached blond or dark brown have been used but black is the MAIN color. Long hairstyles for Emo girls are usually long (below shoulder) and moody while for Emo boys, long hairstyles mean those that are up to the chin area only. One of the main characteristics of long emo hairstyles is that they contain a lot of side fringes/bangs that cover one side of the eye. For starters, there is the messy black Emo long hairstyle. As the name suggests, it is worn in a messy state. Then of course there is the long blond, long brown and so on.
An easy way to perk up long emo hairstyles is to add strands of bright colors such as blue or pink to the black or dark hair. These colors often require some bleaching to enable the color to blend in. Remember Emo is a whole fashion trend and subculture with long emo hairstyles playing an integral part in it. Spice up your Emo personality with unique long emo hairstyles with accessories and colors in the right place.

Drifting ~ Illustration Friday
This is my first submission for IF! This week's topic is "Drifting".
My digital illustration (I call it "digi-collage") reflects a girl floating over the clouds... may be she just woke up at dawn, took a look at the beautiful moonlight and decided to drift up in the sky, with a bunch of balloons, flying free with the wind, with no way in mind, hopeful, faithful...

Long Hair For Different Face Shapes
Long Hair For Different Face Shapes - Fall Winter 2010
I personally come across many women who cannot decide how to wear their long hair. In addition to this, I also come across many who get their hairstyles in every way but the right one; it all goes horribly wrong! One of the easiest way to determine your long hairstyle is by looking at the shape of your face. This is because different hairstyles can accentuate certain face shapes better compared to the others. Let's take a closer look on how to go about it:
Long Hair For Different Face Shapes
• Examine the face of your shape closely. If you need to, ask different opinions from close friends or family members; do so by pulling your hair back.
• Find out if your face is round, long, heart, square, oval or angled.
• There are websites with/or/and softwares that can help you determine which hairstyles suit your face shape with your uploaded photos.
• Find a hairstyle that best fits your face shape. For this purpose, some softwares even offer tips/recommendations.
• Alternatively, your salon/hairdresser would be able to give you some good ideas and recommendations on the long hairstyles that can help accentuate your face shape.
Regardless of your face shape, there are bound to be certain long hairstyles that are able to suit your face shape better compared to the others. Wearing the right ones can help complement your features while hiding the flaws. Thus, it is indeed important for you to pre-determine your shape before deciding on the long hairstyle to wear.

Will Long Hair Suit You?
Will Long Hair Suit You - Fall Winter 2010
Ok, so you see many people donning beautiful long hairstyles and want to grow your hair just like them. However, you are uncertain if it is going to suit you and also how to go about it. It is quite common to feel the way you do given that long hair is popular these days and everybody wants to emulate their favorite artists and celebrities.
First of all, long hairstyles might not suit everyone. What I am trying to say is for example, take a look at your face shape. Will long hair suit your face shape the way you want/hope it to be? Secondly, does it suit your personality? If you are of a tomboyish nature who is rough and fancies wearing jeans and t-shirt, would it suit you? Ask yourself these questions. The next question you need to ask is are you one who is up to caring for long hair? Growing long hair is one thing but caring for it is another. If you think that all you need is to grow it and just wash your hair as you normally do with short hair, think again! It takes much more effort and time to care for long hair comparatively!
However..thank god we are in an age where almost everything is possible these days. You can actually see how you would look in different long hairstyles before growing it. You can achieve this either by using a wig, using hair extensions OR use one of the many PC softwares that can match your face with different hairstyles!
Considering the above factors before you grow your hair long is essential. You do not want to regret it later on, do you?

Long Hairstyles For Men 2010
Long Haircuts For Men - Fall Winter 2010
While long hair is often associated with women and femininity, there is no saying that men cannot look good with long hair. As a matter of fact, there are many men who tend to look better in long hair compared to if they wore short hair (simply take a look at all the Heavy Metal groups out there!). Let's take a look at some long hairstyles for men.
First, there is the long and wave hairstyle. When grown out, this hairstyle can look exceptionally good for some men (also depending on their face shape etc). There are many images of this hairstyle on the Internet for those of you interested in trying this style.
Next, there is the long straight style. This is a classic look that many men prefer and wear. This style in itself is self-explanatory. If you have wavy/curly hair and want to wear this hairstyle, you would need to straighten your hair; either at your hairdresser's or doing it on your own with the hair straightening iron. Two good examples of men who wear this hairstyle is singer Kid Rock and the villain who plays the role of 'Lucius Malfoy' in the “Harry Potter” movie series.
Among some of the other long hairstyles that men can opt to wear are beachy, thick and shiny, the “Country” hairstyle (layered haircut that is also parted down the middle), wavy, curly and many more. Simply browse through the countless long hair men images and galleries to get an idea of what would suit you best.

Long Hairstyles For Square Faces 2010
Long Hairstyles For Square Faces - Fall Winter 2010
Regardless of how you see it, there is really no one 'perfect' long hairstyle for those of you with square-shaped faces. Sure, there may be some styles that can lessen the 'squareness' of the face while others do not at all. However, having said that, I have some recommendations for those of you who want to grow long hair and have square faces. The idea is to try and add length to the hair.
• If you want to part your hair at all, I would recommend having it side-parted instead of center parting because it can add 'squareness' to your face.
• Long layers are good to add length to the hair. Avoid shorter layers as it can give the impression of a wider face.
• For those of you who have 'thinner' square faces, long straight hair parted at the side will look good on you. Since it won't really lessen the effects of 'squareness' on your face, it will only work if you do not have a classic square face shape.
• You can try a style with side-swept bangs. This can help soften the squareness of the face. In addition to this, you can also try layering the sides which can help to even out the harsh angles of the face.
The above are but some of the recommendations/tips for those of you who want to have a long hairstyle with square-shaped faces. You can try the above to help you get the long hairstyle to fit you. Alternatively, you can always ask your hairdresser for recommendations.

Shampoo Tips for Long Hairstyles
Shampoo Tips for Long Hairstyles - Fall Winter 2010
First and foremost, due to the wide availability of shampoos and other hair care products, consumers have often been confused about the main function of it. Although there are claims of shampoos being able to add texture, change color and fattening the strands, the main function is actually to clean the hair especially the scalp.
Having long hair requires more attention and time to care for it compared to short hair. Shampoo is one of the key hair care products that are available in the market. I have included some basic tips to shampoo long hair based on my experience.
1. Pick a shampoo that will fit your hair condition. Whether you have dry, normal, oily or dandruff, there is just the right shampoo for it.
2. The right shampoo should be able to cleanse your hair off all dandruff, dirt, oils and sebum.
3. Choose a shampoo that is gentle on your eyes, skin and scalp.
4. When you shampoo your hair, you should want to get the condition of the hair it was in prior to that.
5. How frequent you shampoo your hair really depends on the condition. For me, I shampoo every other day because I have oily hair. Not only that, I tend to shampoo where the oil is originated from and that is the scalp and only frequently wash the length.
6. Although some of you may think that expensive shampoos are better, there is no scientific evidence to proof that. For me, expensive or inexpensive shampoos work more or less the same. It is the ingredients in the shampoo that is important for me.
Following the above tips will help you to have healthier, more beautiful hair.

Romantic Long Hairstyles 2010
Romantic Long Hairstyles - Fall Winter 2010
I personally think long hairstyles in itself are a fashion statement simply because you tend to have more to show if nothing else! You can fashion it in a myriad of ways. One advantage of having shoulder length to very long hair is that you can incorporate accessories and ornaments including hair sticks to style it in a romantic way! With a little time and practice, you will find that hair sticks is indeed a handy tool in creating romantic hairstyles of your own. Below are some of the styles you can create :
Romantic Long Hairstyles For 2010
Classic Chignon or Bun
You can easily create this hairstyle by making your hair into a normal bun and then 'stitch' your hair against your head with the hair sticks inserted in a criss cross fashion.
The Classic French Twist
Unlike commonly perceived, this hairstyle is quite easy to create. However, it might prove to be a problem if you have extremely long or thick hair. Firstly, fasten your hair with a ponytail holder before dividing it into three sections. Hold your hair in a ponytail at the base of your neck and twist it towards your left direction several times. Next, swing your hair to your right as you continue twisting to create a roll. Continue until the end and hide it under the roll. Use your creativity with the hair sticks at the end of the edges.
Romantic Long Hairstyle 2010
The above is but two of the many romantic hairstyles you can create very easily on your own. Among the other hairstyles are the Edwardian, Edwardian Braid, Flamenco, Topknot, Weave, French Tuck, Juliet, Victorian, Compass, Elegant Gibson, Rope and Double-Braided Bun.
Romantic Long Hairstyle 2010
As you can see, long hairstyles can be styled in too many ways and all this by using hair sticks alone. Imagine what you can achieve with other accessories and fashion apparels?

Trimming Long Hair
Trimming Long Hair - Fall Winter 2010 Hair Edition
Long hairstyles are a wonderful way to indicate that women take great pains in self-care and to look good. This is because admittedly, it takes some effort to grow and then to care and maintain long hairstyles in order for it to continue looking good.
There are many things you will need to bear in mind where caring for your long hairstyle is concerned; from washing to drying; to brushing and trimming. Each and every step of haircare requires nothing less than meticulous attention. I would like to touch specifically on the subject of trimming long hair. How do you go about doing it?
First of all, you should know that trimming is different compared to cutting. When we talk about hair trimming, the amount of hair cut is considerably less compared to cutting and usually involves anything between ¼ to ½ inch. Here's how to go about in trimming long hair.
• Determine the amount of hair to trim.
• Comb your hair from the front portion to the back including the sides.
• Part your hair upwards from the back of the neck and from ear to ear. Clip the remaining hair out of the way and part your hair into 3 sections in the back part. Start with the middle section and run your fingers down your hair. Hold the shaft with your second and third fingers.
• Trim the ends of your hair by using your fingers as a guide. Do this with all the 3 sections.
• Trim the front and sides by combing your hair straight down on the sides and onto your face on the front and trim the same way as you did with the end.
• Comb and check for evenness.
The above is simple to follow for home long hair trimming. You should trim your hair frequently in-between getting a proper haircut.

Long Hair And Accessories
Long Hair And Accessories - Fall Winter 2010 Long Hair Edition
Long hair wearers can attest to the fact that they have much more freedom to express themselves. They can style their long hair in many different ways. One way of doing so is by utilizing hair accessories. Long hair and accessories is like a match made in heaven; they go hand-in-hand and can never be separated.
If you have long hair, you would have heard of long hair accessories such as barrettes, hair claws, hair pins, hair sticks, decorative combs, headbands, tiaras, ponytail holders, spray bottles, curling iron, hair blowers ad more. With so many accessories for long hair, it is a wonder that you don't find yourself being overwhelmed.
Generally, long hair accessories serve 2 main functions. The first is to maintain and care for your long hair. For instance, a good brush is said to be an important hair accessory/tool as it can help maintain it looking good. The same applies for trimmers, curling irons, spray bottles and the likes. The second function; without many realizing it; is that many of these accessories can serve as a fashion item while helping to keep the long hair in place neatly. Items such as hair sticks with intricate designs, tiaras and the likes all fall into this category.
It isn't uncommon to find beautiful and cheap long hair accessories over the Internet these days. Knowing how, what and when to use the appropriate accessories can help maintain your healthy, beautiful long hair while adding a touch of elegance to it.
Long Casual Hairstyles 2009-2010
Long Casual Hairstyles - Fall Winter 2010 Long Hair Edition
Women who just want to go out, have some casual fun but yet look good often wonder how to go about matching their long casual hairstyles with their activities and/or attire. It really shouldn't prove to be a problem; if not for anything but for the fact that long hairstyles can be worn in too many different ways! All it really takes is some creativity.
From my own personal experience and observation, I have always fancied using hair accessories regardless of the occasion. For some casual fun, you can choose from the avalanche of hair sticks, decorative ornaments, hair claws, pins, barrettes and the likes. Not only does it serve to hold your long hair in place, it can also serve to be a fashion apparel to make you look even more attractive. As for the actual hairstyles itself, there are simply too many styles to choose from. For instance, if you want to have a casual and fun hairstyle to choose from, you can try braiding your hair or use the multiple ponytail look. The former needs no introduction while the latter is basically a style whereby you create 3 equal sections of hair and keep it in place with 3 separate ponytail holders. Once you have learned the technique of creating these 3 ponytails, you can diversify by using colorful decorative accessories. For the adventurous, you can even add highlighting or tons of color to it.
As illustrated, long casual hairstyles can be really fun. All it really takes is some creativity and a sense of adventure.

Hairstyles For The Office
Long Hairstyles For The Office - Fall Winter 2010 Hair Edition
I have made a personal observation. In this particular observation, I noticed that the majority of female news broadcasters have short to medium-length hair while the entertainment section consists of mostly long-haired counterparts. While it is true that there may be different hairstyles to suit different occasions and professions, by no means that you cannot grow long hair if you work in the office!
2010 Long Hairstyle For The Office
The beauty of long hair is that it can be worn in many different ways. Office women with long hair can either just wear them long in a neat way or have them tied up either with a ponytail holder, hair sticks or barrettes. By using low key hair accessories, you are able to have an elegant updo while still maintaining an authoritative air of professionalism around it; all this while still looking good! Your beautiful long hair can easily complement your business suit or other formal attire if you were a little creative. Try pulling your long hair back and tying it up with elegant hair pieces. This can give you a very professional and clean look that can suit any office environment.
If you want a change, a professional but soft look can be achieved by using a curling iron to curl specific sections of your hair. While career women need to maintain a more professional hairstyle during their office hours, there is no saying that they cannot transform it into a fun style with the use of fancy accessories. The idea is knowing what is appropriate for the right occasion. Who says long haired women cannot have the best of both worlds – professionalism during the day and fun during the night.

Long Hair For Long Faces
Long Hair For Long Faces - Fall Winter 2010 Long Hairstyles Edition
No matter what the reason is, certain hairstyles can help to bring out the best features of a specific face shape while hiding the flaws. The same applies for those of you with long faces. Basically, what you would want to achieve is to lessen the effect of a long, narrow face by adding width to it. With the right kind of long hairstyle, you will be able to give the illusion of a shorter and fuller face.
Long Hairstyle Idea For Long Face
For those of you who have a straight hairstyle, you can add some width to your face with bangs. Bangs are exceptionally effective because it tends to cover up a large area (if not entirely) of the forehead. The best bet would be side-swept bangs. Avoid the blunt bangs.
Long Hairdo For Long Face
Next, waves and curls can be used to adverse effects because it can give the illusion of a wider face. It can add width to the sides of your face. However, if you want to do that, avoid short layers as it can give more volume on the top area which will lengthen the face. Instead, go for longer layers.
Long Wavy Hairstyle For Long Faces
As a general rule of thumb, what you need to do to give the impression of a wider face is to try and add bangs and curls. These two are the best bet for those of you who have long, narrow faces. Layering is also good, especially long layers as it can create horizontal lines.
Long Straight Hairstyle For Long Face
Avoid center parting as it can cause your face and nose to appear longer.

Long Hair For Oval Faces
Long Hair For Oval Faces - The Most Versatile Face Shape Is Oval
Oval faces are said to be the most versatile among all face shapes. This simply means that you have more flexibility and options to style your long hair. Most hairstyles will work for you but there are some that will work better than the others. Let's have a closer look.
Long Hair For Oval Faces - Sienna Miler
A good style that comes to mind is one that is long and curly. You can increase the effects by having really long layers that rests on the cheekbones and chin. For those of you who are petite, having longer hair in the back will be good as not to wear down upon the face. Avoid extra long hair on the front because it will make you look older if you are small-sized.
The next hairstyle that can accentuate an oval face is the long and beachy waves. However, avoid overly long hair. The best bet would be about 2-3 inches below the shoulders. Wavy long is a good complement to oval face shapes. If you must, taper the cuts on the end of the hair as it can look really good. Sienna Miller, whose face is classic oval have been spotted wearing this long hairstyle to adverse effects.
Bangs are good for oval faces too. You can try a variety of long hairstyles with bangs. Long layers are good as opposed to short ones which can add height at the top of your head area. Among some of the celebrities that you share your face shape with are Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Long Hair For Round Faces
Long Hair For Round Faces - Opt For a Layered Style, 2010 Hair Tips
For those of you who have been experiencing difficulties in determining the hairstyle to wear, one easy way is to first look at the shape of your faces. For those of you who have round faces, long hair can still look good for you if you wear it in a specific manner. The first style that I would recommend for those of you who have a classic round face is the full-swept bangs. This can accentuate the features of your face if worn correctly. Kelly Osbourne is a celebrity who has a classic round face, but she rather wear short hair.
Penelope Cruz - Classic Round Face
Round faces can look good with long to very long hairstyles. However, instead of opting for straight or heavy bangs, opt for a layered style. Keep the sides of the hair as short as close to the face as you could possibly do. If you want to have a long curly style, curl it around the crown area but not near the cheeks. This is done with the intention of creating height.
Don't be afraid to wear your hair long. The key idea is to wear your more toward the face area to give the impression of a more oval face shape to your otherwise round face. Regardless of everything, you should remember to wear a hairstyle that you are comfortable with and enjoy wearing. Round faces can look good in long hairstyles unlike the common perception. All it takes is a little knowledge and some effort. If you are not confident on your own, ask your hairdresser for help.

Formal Hairstyles and Long Hair
Long Formal Hairstyles - Fall Winter 2010 Long Hair Edition
Before anything, I would like to stress that formal doesn't necessarily equate to boring. You can still don your long formal hairstyles in such a way that it still oozes an air of formality while maintaining attractiveness. I think this is what many women tend to fail to realize.
Long Formal Hairstyles 2010
You do not necessarily need to wear a stiff updo to be formal. Long flowing hair can match formal strapless dresses well due to the fact it draws a lot of attention to the upper body as well as the face area. Long hair is also excellent in a way that it is able to add youthfulness, zest and life to formal attire; it is the perfect way to look modern yet trendy at the same time.
Long Formal Hair 2010
Below are some pointers to wear long hair with formal attire :
• Utilize products that can add texture and shine. Instead of opting for structured curls, go for silky straight hair or long loose waves.
• Long, sexy hair is an accessory in itself so go for less jewelry around the face. Exclude necklaces; using chandelier or oversized diamond stud earrings is sufficient.
• Your formal daytime hair can be transformed with decorative hair accessories/ornaments or wear your hair half pulled back or/and distant from your face.
Wearing long formal hair need not be dull. Instead, with the above tips, you can be attractive and formal at the same time. All it really takes is a little creativity to keep up with the modern chic.
